Kelly Sperber, Trustee

I am currently a board member for Ponoka Youth Center and a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Over the years I have been happy to volunteer in many capacities from parent councils to 4 H and minor hockey depending on what activities my kids were involved in at the time.

The partnerships between the Ponoka Festival of Trees committee , the Hospital Auxiliary, the Kinette’s, Chicks for Charity, the Rotary Club of Ponoka, Ponoka FCSS, Ponoka 4H Beef, Royal Canadian Legion Poppy drive, The Royal Britannia lodge, Ponoka Welsh society ,Ponoka Hospital staff jean fund , County of Ponoka Jean Fund,Country Garden and Greenhouse, Rowland Parker and Assoc.,  and the hundreds of individual donors and volunteers working towards improving the care and comfort for patients at Ponoka Hospital is truly  the best part of this committee!

Dorothy’s Ungstad, Chairperson

I am a retired teacher who enjoys spending my time volunteering with numerous groups such as Alberta Retired Teachers, Ponoka Hospital Auxiliary, tutoring students or judging 4-H public speaking.  Volunteering keeps your mind active and your life interesting as you meet numerous group and share their lives.

I live north-west of Ponoka.  I enjoy curling at Usona, reading, doing puzzles and playing Bridge.  I also enjoy being outdoors walking or working in the garden and flower beds.

I am very proud that myself and Juanita Knight were instrumental in getting the Ponoka & District Health Foundation started in Ponoka.  We were both on the Founding Committee, along with other members.  We welcome new volunteers to serve as trustees on the Ponoka & District Health Foundation.

Joan Van Wolde, Volunteer Secretary

I work for Red Deer City Soccer as an Administrator and Program Coordinator.  I have always enjoyed sports, so working for a sporting organization is very busy but very fun!

I am married, live on a farm north-west of Ponoka, and I enjoy spending time with my wonderful children and grandchildren.  I also enjoy riding my bicycle, reading and camping in the mountains.

I have been the volunteer secretary for the Ponoka & District Health Foundation since its inception, and I was also the volunteer secretary for the Founding Committee.  It is rewarding to see the growth of the Ponoka & District Health Foundation, from its beginning to the present, and I’m excited for the future as community awareness and support of the Foundation increases.

Jennifer Parker, Trustee

I  live in Ponoka with my husband and family, where I am a teacher at Ponoka Elementary School. I have been on the Foundation for 1.5 years and also have been involved with other service groups like the Kinette Club, Skate Ponoka and Victim Services. I value volunteerism and giving time to enrich your community. The projects I have enjoyed the most with the Foundation is partnering with the Festival of Trees and volunteering at the Seniors Tea or Breakfast with Santa and the Foundation Paint Event we have held for students and seniors to come together and spend an afternoon creating art. We are fortunate to have many residents in Ponoka and surrounding areas as well as community minded businesses who generously support the Ponoka District Health Foundation.
